Coming this August 2021 -
Honoring 100+ year old UA homes!
—> What is this event?
In recognition of the historic, diverse and fine quality architecture we enjoy in our city, the Upper Arlington Historical Society is creating celebration signs for UA homes (1) built in 1921 or before, and (2) with a facade that closely matches that of the original build. These yard signs will be provided FREE OF CHARGE to those participating for qualifying homeowners to post in their lawn during the month of August.
Since a cluster of these homes are found in our Historic District, the 2021 program is focusing on that area only. Qualifying homeowners have already been contacted. We hope to expand the program in future years.
Homeowners receiving signs this year will be asked to save them to display in subsequent years when we welcome other classes of homes into our “Homes of History” program.
—> How do I find out the age of my home?
Anyone can use the Franklin County Auditor’s website to search for public records on their address. This usually includes your home’s original build date under the Residential link at left on the property’s Summary page.
—> My home is 100+ years old with no changes or very minor changes to its facade. How do I register for the event?
We have tried to identify those UA homes in the Historic District that qualify for this inaugural event, but if we missed yours, please contact us at info@uahistory.org.
—> How will the community know what homes are participating?
Starting August 1, 2021, homeowners will display their celebratory signs in their yard, similar to the City’s recent Centennial Tree program. A map of those participating homes will also be available on our website along with other highlighted information.
THANK YOU to our Homes of History chairs Sue Minor and Suzy Owen!
