At the start of 1923, Upper Arlington’s boundaries were what today we consider the Historic District - south of Lane Avenue and roughly bounded on the east by Andover Road. No one had officially lived in UA longer than nine years, and the majority of land we know today as “UA” was Perry Township. Learn more about life in our community one hundred years ago:
In 1923, UA grew its village boundaries through three land annexations.
Home sales were HOT, HOT, HOT.
Students in UA went to the Waltham Road School while construction on a permanent school happened next door.
Students not within UA’s borders, but on land that is now part of our city, went to South Perry Township school.

Ohio State’s football coach purchased a home in UA.
There were no churches within UA’s borders, but what is now UA’s oldest church was already making history.
UA celebrated its very first Fourth of July.
