John Stegmiller - Vietnam Veteran
In 1969, UA resident John Stegmiller was deployed to Vietnam for nine months, serving in a construction battalion—commonly known as the Seabees. His unit was responsible for building critical infrastructure for the U.S. military, including bridges, roads, airports, and more. They also made a lasting impact on the local community by helping construct schools for the Vietnamese people.
After his deployment, John completed the remainder of his four-year military commitment in Norfolk, Virginia. He then continued to serve in the Navy for another 20 years as part of the Civil Engineer Corps, dedicating to serving at home.
