Born in Louisville, Kentucky - World War II Army Air Force, Radiological and Meteorology Specialist, Pacific Theater - B.S. Electrical Engineering, Ohio State University, M.S. Electrical Engineering, California Institute of Technology - Science Masters Degree in Engineering Science, Harvard University.
One of three who founded Industrial Nucleonics in Columbus, Ohio in 1950 - the first company to pioneer the peace time industrial use of atomic energy.
Chope held 65 patents and authorized many papers which were published in scientific journals.
He was recognized countless times for his great visionary gift regarding the peaceful use of electronics and nuclear energy for the betterment of mankind.
Roy and Lois Chope had four children - Betsy, David, Amy, and Charles. He was a member of the Upper Arlington Rotary and Upper Arlington Lutheran Church.
