Dr. James' lifetime accomplishment will provide continuing benefit for all citizens of central Ohio. The Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Research Institute opened in 1990 as the 4th freestanding cancer hospital in the United States.
At the Ohio State University, he established the division of surgical oncology and organized the first surgical oncology fellowship program. As medical director of the Columbus Cancer Clinic he contributed his time to this free cancer diagnostic clinic. A Horatio Alger Award recipient, he found caring for and curing patients his most rewarding accomplishment.
